Line of the year...heck, of the decade...from Olivia Manning

[from this ESPN interview in which Rick Reilly interviews Archie, Peyton and Eli all at the same time]

REILLY: Archie, let's finish with you. You had this terrific college and pro career. And then you have three star sons, two of whom grow up to be Super Bowl MVPs. Does it ever just stop you in your tracks?

Archie: You know, I said to [Olivia] one night -- I was in bed, reading something about the boys in a magazine -- and I said, "Honey, we've been married 35 years now. Did you ever, in your wildest dreams, think you and I would have children that would do these amazing things?"

And she said, "Archie, very seldom are you in my wildest dreams."

This is just ridiculously cool

Thanks to my friend Sophia for forwarding me the following ridiculously cool video about Volkswagen's "transparent" Phaeton factory in Germany. This is pretty close to a must-see for all Gentle Readers.

Okay, this you have to see

Thanks to my sister Stephanie for showing me this while she was here visiting Helen.

A year ago yesterday...

...eHarmony told me, "Hey, there's this girl named Helen that we think you might really like to meet. Very cute, as you can see from her picture. And very sweet, too. Oh, by the way...she lives in Shanghai..."

I haven't been blogging much this last month or so, obviously. For one thing, I can't blog when I'm in China because the People's Republic blocks access to blogspot. And since I got back, on the 7th, along with my now-permanent-US-resident wife and son, there's been a massive amount to do getting everybody settled in.

But thank you for all your prayers, and do please keep praying because of course Helen and Kai are undergoing some massive culture shock at the moment. They're both holding up very well, and I'm very proud of them for handling things so well; but it's still not an easy thing by any means. So keep praying.
